Bill DeSmet serves as a Chief Financial Officer for a range of clients at Financial One Accounting. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Michigan – Dearborn and is completing the last two classes for his MBA program through Central Michigan University.
Bill began his career in the Banking industry where he spent the first twelve years. He then moved into the Healthcare industry working for a small community hospital for ten years. Bill continued to develop his career by starting his own consulting company assisting non-profits as an interim leader, most recently as the interim Chief Financial & Compliance Officer of an Area Agency on Aging. He joined Financial One Accounting in November 2022.
Bill has served on several non-profit boards in his community. He is currently the Chair of the Marshall United Way and previously served on the Marshall Public School Board for eleven years. He also served on the Calhoun County Agricultural and Industrial Society board, the Marshall Downtown Development Authority/Local Development Finance Authority and the Regional Health Alliance.
Bill’s family includes his wife, Michele and daughters Maegan and Sara. Maegan and Sara both attend the University of Michigan. Bill enjoys family vacations, attending Michigan sporting events, golfing and kayaking.
